Y10 Coastal Landforms

Designing your own revision guide!

The Specification states that you need to know:

"Landforms resulting from erosion - characteristics and formation of headlands and bays, cliffs and wave cut platforms, caves, arches and stacks [and stumps]."

...and...

"Landforms resulting from deposition - characteristics and formation of beaches, spits and bars."

What do I have to do?

Your task is to create a revision guide which describes, illustrates and explains the formation of each of the features listed above.

You should split your revision guide into two clear sections - "Landforms of Erosion" and "Landforms of Deposition" - and include the following for each of the features:

  • A clear title
  • A case study example (PR will suggest a suitable example)
  • A description of the feature
  • An explanation of how the feature is formed
  • A photo
  • A hand drawn diagram or diagrams (which you could replicate in an exam)
Think carefully about layout and a consistent "corporate style" - each landform presented in the same way with the same page layout.

What resources can I use to help me?
  • Resource Booklet
  • Understanding GCSE Geography Textbook
  • Y10 Pupil Folder on VLE - PowerPoint presentation on arches, stacks etc.
  • Internet (see below)
