New UK attempt to capture carbon


A renewed attempt to develop ways of making power stations greener has been unveiled by the UK government.
For the second time in five years, £1bn will be offered for schemes to trap and bury carbon dioxide.

The birth of "Amasia"?


This is an artist's impression of what the supercontinent Pangaea might have looked like from space.

Scientists at Yale University predict that a new supercontient - Amasia - will form in 50-200 million years time when America and Eurasia crash into each other over the North Pole.

They predict Africa and Australia will join the new "supercontinent" too, which will mark the next coming together of the Earth's land masses.
